Tonight’s Theme

Many desk professionals don’t feel injured, they just feel “old”. A stiff lower back in the morning. A tight neck that keeps returning.  Knees or hips that feel rusty.

Everyone from doctors to the general population, from 20-somethings to 80s+, associate these feelings with aging - like there’s an inevitable downward slope to pain and inability once you’re no longer a teenage healing machine.

Fortunately, this cultural paradigm of “You get worse until you die” is simply not true.

People are largely unaware of the tremendous developments in human longevity and resilience over the past 30 years. In many cases, simple changes can lead to the restoration of meaning and transformed lives.

The good news is that long term trajectory can shift. It is possible to feel actually better as you age. When you understand how deskwork is (literally) shaping your body - and what to do about it - improvement becomes possible again.

Who Should Attend

  • Tech, finance, and other professionals with high cognitive load and low movement.
  • “Fit & Active” desk workers with nagging issues in their sports, CrossFit classes, or weight lifting workouts.
  • Injured workers with problems like sciatica, low back pain, and plantar fasciitis.
  • “Extreme” desk workers including dental staff and other ‘bent shape’ workers.
  • HR Reps, Business Development Associates and other leaders looking for a better way to think about staff health & wellness

Event Format

This is a focused, in-person evening designed to learn something valuable and connect with like-minded people. This is not a workout class or a sales pitch.

What the evening will look like:

  • A 45-minute talk on how deskwork shapes your body over time
  • Practical takeaways you can begin applying immediately
  • Opportunities to ask questions about your specific situation
  • Time to connect and network with other professionals
  • Light refreshments and a relaxed atmosphere

Come to listen, learn, and connect with others health oriented individuals.

About Rouleau

Rouleau is a new movement education studio in Edmonton, focused on helping people build durable, capable bodies that improve over time. Alberta has an $8b/year chronic pain problem, and we’re here building the new workforce that can fix it.

Over the years, our teachers have helped clients prevent unnecessary orthopedic surgeries, eliminate chronic pain, and improve whatever you love doing - from gardening to hiking to golf to snowboarding (the full list is endless).

Our work is about ensuring that Albertans can build bodies that last and maintain their “work hard, play hard” reputation amidst a changing techno-world landscape.

Come Join Us

This is a small, in-person event limited to 30 attendees to keep the conversation focused, professional and personal. It’s an opportunity to change your long term trajectory and meet some new friends.

We look forward to seeing you there.

💡 What if your hips got better with age?

What if instead of bracing for decline, you built hips that feel:

  • Strong enough to carry what matters — groceries, toddlers, or your own weight up the stairs
  • Mobile and stable — so you can squat, twist, and move without second-guessing yourself
  • Ready for hikes, dancing, stairs, or just standing at the stove without shifting from foot to foot
  • Like a source of power, not pain

In this workshop, you'll:

  • Learn what your hips (and knees and feet) actually need to stay strong for life
  • Understand why your yoga class might be making things worse — and how to modify without anyone else knowing
  • Practice movement patterns that protect your joints and help them get stronger over time
  • Get tools you can use right away, feel the results immediately and use for the rest of your life

You won’t just learn about your hips. You’ll feel what it’s like to move from strength.

Hear what Rouleau practitioners are saying...

“Physically, I feel amazing. I used to go on a beach walk for about an hour, and just at the end of it, my hips were just screaming at me. It was like a couple of years of that. I'm starting to forget I ever had an issue there. I even did a three-hour hike a month ago or something -and I didn't even think about it. I had no pain. I just didn’t even realize it."
Cecily, Australia
“My student was supposed to get her hip replaced. But after a year, her doctor told her, ‘Your hips look great. You don’t need a replacement right now. We don’t need to do surgery.’ And she said, ‘It’s the Rouleau classes.’ She comes three times a week. She’s so dedicated."
Wendy, Germany
“I was in an accident and suffered a pretty significant brain concussion. I was on a walker for 3 months. Couldn’t drive for 9. I made more progress in 6 months with Rouleau than I made in a year of neuro rehab. I’m doing things that I really was terrified to do. I’m probably close to where I was before my injury. But that’s not good enough anymore. I want to keep pushing myself and challenging myself.”
Melanie, USA
“I talk about being the poster child for this work because two years ago, I could hardly walk up the stairs. I had so much inflammation, so much discomfort. My doctor suggested I would need surgery. But I’ve been doing this work every single day since then. My knees are doing great. I go days - weeks, even - without even thinking that I ever had any pain in them. It’s remarkable.”
Barbara, Canada
“At 42, I’ve never felt more capable. I’m doing things I used to be terrified of. My kids think their mommy is strong and they are super impressed by that - I enjoy showing them little things they can use in their everyday life. Even emptying the dishwasher - I’m intentionally trying to use those parts of my body. I know now it helps prevent injury, but it also makes you stronger.”
Danielle, USA
“Going to get groceries, I used to have to hold on to the cart. I used to just focus on the pain-and the lack of mobility. But now when I come here, I feel joy. This lifts me up every week. It’s making me feel better about me.”
Kim, CANADA

Who wrote this page anyways?

Hi there - I’m Denise, founder of Rouleau.

I’ve spent my life studying movement in every form, from fitness and massage therapy to somatics and beyond.

Along the way, I discovered something missing: a way of moving that doesn’t just train your body, but teaches it how to heal.

That’s why I created Rouleau - to give you a path back to strength, stability, and the quiet confidence of feeling at home in your body again.

At its core, Rouleau is built on one truth: your body is designed to heal and adapt. My work, and the work of every Rouleau teacher, is simply to help you remember how.
